Alfred Newman Conducts The Hollywood Symphony Orchestra

From Billboard - December 23, 1950: One of two new Newman long-play collections, this is a collection of alternately lush and blood and thundering standards – on one side selected from the ballet literature and the other from miscellany. This is just the kind of thing which made Newman's Majestic recordings of a couple of years ago so tremendously popular. These sides have the same vigorous qualities which set up Andre Koslelanetz on record. They are beautiful recorded, incidentally, with an accent on startling detail achieved with reverberation. This is ideal middlebrow stuff with a decided pop market appeal.
