From the inside (gatefold) cover: About Al Caiola - Years of recording and audio experience blossom forth in Guitars, Woodwinds And Bongs, as the Premier of Plucking, Al Caiola, captains five guitars backed with separate corps of woodwinds and bongos. Explosive musicianship and melody, masterminded by Caiola, prove he chose the top studio musicians to carry out his daringly inventive ideas. The aural clarity and definition found in this stellar sound creation prove Caiola's hears of recording studio experience provide him with a profound and working knowledge of audio engineering and the men who could put his ideas in grooves. Years of musical experience, too, provide Caiola with the savvy that finds a variety of songs, ranging from a rust Steel Guitar Ray to the familiar Petite Waltz to a jumpin' Jeepers Creepers. Caiola is provided with his first crack at atoning his own crew with the type of melodic attack that he thinks will win over any music or audio fan's ear. His years of experience, ranging from playing round the U.S. with small combos thru big bands, stands him in good stead. His great demand for recording session work, too, is evidenced by his emphasis on what will delight the tweeter-and-woofer crowd.

  1. Thank you for the credits here. I often think that the rah-rah supporters of "The Wrecking Crew" of L.A. should hear stuff like this record before they poo-poo New York session artists of back in the day.
I need to know though, was it Don Costa who did the arrangements? I'm thinking it might be since he was the house arranger for United Artists Records at the time.
