1 Hour Of Orchestral Fireworks

1 Hour Of Orchestral Fireworks
Andre Reger And The Paris Pop Orchestra
Spin-O-Rama S-104

Great exotica/space age cover with not so exotica/space age fireworks on the LP.

The artwork is after the style of Les Baxter's Ritual Of The Savage album cover art.

Little Bits For Children Everywhere

Little Bits For Children Everywhere
With Mark Fox
Featuring "Little Markie"

I picked this LP up on ebay. The cover seemed a little creepy to me. Oh boy... what a treasure. A creepy treasure.

I didn't research the album before the purchase to find out that this guy is no secret. And for good reason.

I don't have words...

So read all the words about Mark Fox here: WFMU Beware of the Blog.

Soul Sauce

Amen!
Soul Sauce
Paul Griffin Pours On Some
Somerset SF-30900
1968

Great 60s groovy cover and hip organ playing on this budget Somerset label LP.

Honeymoon In South America

Brazil
Honeymoon In South America
The Rio Carnival Orchestra
Somerset P-1900
1958

Pleasant orchestrated easy listening LP on the budget Somerset label. There's no information available on who the The Rio Carnival Orchestra was.

There are touches of marimba here and there to remind you that this is "world" music.

Enjoy Brazil, one of my favorite tunes heavily covered in the "Exotica" period.

Trade Winds

Trade Winds
Earl Grant
Decca DL 74623
1965

Excellent exotic/jazz flavored easy listening album not available on CD. Fluid and sensitive Hammond organ riffs from a gifted keyboardist who died in a car accident at the age of 39.

During his short life, Grant produced many albums from 1958 through 1966 all on the Decca label.

Monster's Holiday

Buck Owens and The Buckaroos
It's A Monster Holiday
Capitol 1974

Apparently no CD was ever issued and vinyl is somewhat difficult to find. I picked this copy up at a thrift because of the horror cover. The cover smacks of low budget, private press. Capitol did spend some money on the back cover. The Monster's Holiday is a novelty tune after "The Purple People Eater". The lyrics aren't even country. It's pure kid's stuff. The rest of the LP goes back to standard country.
